Manual Therapy

What is Manual/Manipulative Physiotherapy?

Manipulative physiotherapists are highly trained in using an integrated, evidence informed approach to the assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders involving the spine and limbs. The therapist will use a combination of hands-on techniques, exercise and education in order to improve movement, reduce pain and restore function.

Education

Physiotherapy Alliance physiotherapists have completed additional post-graduate training in manual therapy. Our CAMPT Physiotherapists have completed extensive, internationally recognized post-graduate education focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of complex neuromusculoskeletal injuries and disorders. The education to become a CAMPT Certified Physiotherapist consists of several years of courses and standardized written and practical examinations or a completion of a post-graduate Master’s degree. Several of the physiotherapists at Physiotherapy Alliance are involved as instructors and mentors within the manual therapy education system.

How We Can Help

CAMPT Physiotherapists are extremely effective in assessing and treating conditions involving muscle, joints or nerves. These can include: headaches; neck and shoulder motion restriction or pain; mobility concerns or pain at the hip, knee, foot and ankle; and low back, sacroiliac and pelvic pain or dysfunction.

Your physiotherapist will use assessment skills, clinical judgement, and the principles of evidence-informed practice to work with you to meet your health goals through an individualized treatment plan.
