Physiotherapy treatment can be of benefit to ensure you are as strong and mobile as possible before surgery. Pre-surgery treatment focuses on minimizing deficits before you have surgery, so that your baseline is improved post-surgery. Post-surgical physiotherapy involves the creation of a rehabilitation plan to help you achieve your goals. An individualized home exercise program will be an important part of the plan to decrease pain, increase strength and flexibility and improve function. Exercise and manual therapy can both be used in treatment after surgery.
